Q: Can FiberSmile® easily be repaired?
A: Light damage, such as surface damage and holes, can easily be repaired at the bridge site. The repairs are similar to wood repairs. The surface is completely restored, leaving no traces of repair.
Q: What about the impact resistance of FiberSmile® railings? A: Unlike other composite (pull trusion) railings, FiberSmile® railings are reinforced with extra fibres and therefore have maximum impact resistance.
Q: Is FiberSmile® fireproof? A: As with other characteristics of composite materials, the fire resistance can be determined by choosing the right mixture of resins, gelcoats and flame-retardants and by covering the laminate with fire-proof toplayers. That way, almost any degree of resistance to fire or fire-propagation can be achieved. In general, the fire-resistancy of composites is very well. That is because the load-bearing aspects of a composite structure remain in tact for much longer than those of a steel bridge during a fire.
Q: Can graffiti easily be removed from InfraCore® products? A: Yes. The ultra strong, repellant surface of composites makes sure all kinds of ink are easily removed. None of the materials used in the composite are subject to solvents or paint strippers. A firm spray of water is usually sufficient to remove any ink. |
